Risk

phpMyAdmin exposes the full database engine to the internet. A brute-force or credential-stuffing attack against this endpoint can result in complete data exfiltration or ransomware deployment.

Fix

Restrict `/phpmyadmin/` to internal IPs only via your web server (`allow from 10.0.0.0/8; deny from all`), or move to a VPN-gated bastion. Prefer CLI or SSH tunnel access for production databases.

Remediation Approach

Harden server and framework defaults by disabling unused HTTP methods, removing version banners from response headers, and applying a principle-of-least-privilege to file permissions and deployment artefacts.
